    200px-Night_at_the_Museum_2009

Two years after Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) defeated the three night guards that plotted to steal The Tablet, he is now head of Daley Devices, a company that he founded to manufacture his inventions. These inventions, including the Glow-in-the-Dark Flashlight, the Unloseable Keyring, and the Oversized Dogbone, were created from his experiences as a former night guard. Upon revisiting, he finds that the American Museum of Natural History is closed for upgrades and renovations, and some of the museum pieces are being replaced by interactive holograms due to budget costs. The actual exhibits are due to be moved to the Federal Archives at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC. On the last night, Larry reconnects with his museum exhibit friends including Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams), Rexy the Tyrannosaurus Skeleton, and Dexter the Capuchin Monkey (Crystal the Monkey) and finds out that several exhibits, including Theodore, Rexy, The Easter Island Head (Brad Garrett), and good Pharaoh Ahkmenrah (Rami Malek) and his Tablet are not moving to the Smithsonian Institution – without the Tablet of Ahkmenrah, the other exhibits will no longer be animated, something which Teddy has not told them so they can enjoy their last night. The next night, Larry gets a call from Jedediah (Owen Wilson), saying that Dexter stole the tablet last midnight and evil Pharaoh Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria), Ahkmenrah’s older brother, is attacking them.

Larry Daley (Ben Stiller) is a divorced father who is unable to keep a stable job, the bulk of his career consisting of failed business ventures. He is desperate to win the support of his son Nick (Jake Cherry), whom he fears is beginning to look up to his more successful future stepfather, Don (Paul Rudd), a bond trader on Wall Street. Larry goes to a job agency and is sent to the American Museum of Natural History, where he is hired as a night guard. The three elder (soon to be retired) night guards, Cecil (Dick Van Dyke), Gus (Mickey Rooney), and Reginald (Bill Cobbs), give him a quick tour, advise him to leave some of the lights on, and warn him not to let anything “in…or out”, which Larry meets with humorous skepticism. Once night comes, Larry discovers that the museum exhibits come to life, including a living Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton, a mischievous capuchin monkey named Dexter, miniatures led by cowboy Jedediah (Owen Wilson) and Roman General Octavius (Steve Coogan), an Easter Island head obsessed with “gum-gum” and a wax model of Theodore Roosevelt (Robin Williams).

Casey Beldon (Odette Yustman) is plagued by nightmare visions of strange looking dogs, and an evil child with bright blue eyes.

While baby-sitting Matty, her neighbor’s son, she hears Matty’s voice over the baby monitor. When she goes to check on the newborn, she finds Matty showing the infants reflection, then he attacks her with the mirror, and says “Jumby wants to be born now”. The next day, Casey’s friend Romy tells a superstition involving newborns and mirrors: they shoudn’t see their reflections for at least a year. When she comes back from her run the next day, an ambulance is outside her neighbors house, and another neighbor tells her “the baby wasn’t breathing”, indicating what Romy said was true. After being hit with the mirror, Casey’s eyes begin to change color, which an optician explains as experiencing Tetragametic chimerism and Heterochromia. After questioning her father she learns she had a twin brother who died in the womb. Casey begins to suspect that the spirit haunting her is the soul of her dead twin wanting to be born so it can transfer to the world of the living.
